The first in a series of two channel videos using the 1998 Gwyneth Paltrow film Sliding
Doors as a starting point. The original film follows two different versions of Gwyneth Paltrow
navigating a world of unemployment and cheating boyfriends. The two different Gwyneths
are created by either missing, or not missing, a train, and are each signifi ed by new haircuts.
Wikipedia tells us this fi lm is maybe a rip-off of Kieslowski, which is perfect.
Blind Chance re-edits the original into a two
channel version, one for each Gwyneth. There are times when even the most astute viewer
couldn’t pick out a storyline to assign each shot, and these points are handled the only way
they could be, through violently strobing intercuts between the two narratives during any
attributable moments.
